These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the website jrksas.org, operated by the Kolkata Society for Asian Studies ("the Society", "we", "us", "our") for the Journal of Kolkata Society for Asian Studies ("the Journal"). By accessing this website, submitting a manuscript, subscribing, or making any payment through this site, you ("the User") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, along with our Submission Guidelines and Publication Ethics & Subscription policy.
1. About the Journal
The Journal of Kolkata Society for Asian Studies is a peer-reviewed, half-yearly, bilingual (English and Bangla) journal of social science, published since 2015 by the Kolkata Society for Asian Studies. 2. Services Offered on this Website
Through this website, Users may:
- Submit manuscripts for consideration for publication, as detailed in our Submission Guidelines.
- Purchase and download individual issues, volumes, or (where available) individual articles of the Journal, in electronic (PDF) format, for a fee.
- Subscribe to the Journal on an annual basis, as detailed on our Publication Ethics & Subscription page.
- Pay Article Processing Charges (APC) upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication.
3. Payments
All payments made on this website are processed through a third-party, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. We do not store or have access to your card, UPI, or net-banking credentials at any point during the transaction — these are collected and processed directly and securely by our payment gateway partner.
Prices are displayed in Indian Rupees (₹) for users in India and in US Dollars ($) for international users, including a discounted rate for users in SAARC member countries. Applicable prices are as published on the relevant page (issue download, subscription, or APC notice) at the time of payment.
Upon successful payment for a digital download (single article, single issue, or volume), the User will be provided with a secure, time-limited download link. This link is valid for a limited period (currently one hour) from the time of successful payment, after which it will expire for security reasons. Once downloaded, the User is responsible for saving and safeguarding their own copy of the file.

SAARC rate applies to Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Rates are reviewed periodically; the rate displayed on the payment page at the time of transaction is the applicable rate.
4. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Payments made for digital downloads (single articles, issues, or volumes) are for instantly deliverable digital content. As such:
- Once a download link has been issued and the file has been successfully downloaded, the transaction is considered complete and no refund will be provided.
- If a payment is successfully deducted but the User does not receive a working download link due to a technical error on our end, the User is entitled to a full refund, or a fresh download link, at the Society's discretion. Please report such issues within 7 days of the transaction to kspublication1@gmail.com, along with the payment reference/transaction ID.
- Annual subscription payments, once processed and the subscription period has commenced, are non-refundable, except in cases of duplicate or erroneous payment, which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Article Processing Charges (APC) are non-refundable once paid, as stated in our Publication Ethics & Subscription policy, since this fee covers editorial, review, and production processes that commence upon payment, regardless of the final publication outcome.
- Any approved refund will be processed back to the original mode of payment, generally within 7–14 working days, subject to the processing timelines of the payment gateway and the User's bank.
5. Delivery Policy
As all products sold on this website are digital (PDF) files, there is no physical shipping involved. Delivery is made electronically via a secure download link generated immediately upon successful payment verification. In rare cases of delay due to technical issues, delivery may take up to 24 hours; if a User does not receive access within this time, they should contact kspublication1@gmail.com.
6. Intellectual Property & Copyright
All content published in the Journal, including articles, abstracts, and editorial content, is the copyright of the Kolkata Society for Asian Studies, unless otherwise stated. Purchase of a download grants the User a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to read and retain the downloaded file. Users may not further distribute, republish, or use the content for commercial purposes without prior written permission from the Editorial Chief, as detailed in our Aims & Scope page.
7. User Conduct
Users agree not to misuse this website, including attempting to gain unauthorised access to paid content without payment, interfering with the website's security features, or using the website for any unlawful purpose.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Society makes reasonable efforts to ensure the website and payment systems function correctly, but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Society shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, this website or its payment services.
9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with the use of this website or any transaction made through it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
10. Changes to these Terms
The Society reserves the right to update or modify these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the website after any such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
